What is Soccerfest?

The Cabbagetown SoccerFest will be a festival focused on kids and creating soccer awareness in Atlanta. The festival will be held at Cabbagetown Park in the heart of Atlanta and coincide with the first US World Cup game vs. England on June 12th 2010. The festival will run from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM with children's activities going on throughout the day. The World Cup game will be broadcast at 2:30 on a 9' x 12' screen. The event will promote soccer, while also promoting being green and sustainable.

What is Cabbagetown?

Cabbagetown is a historic neighborhood located in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. Cabbagetown developed around the Fulton Cotton and Bag Mill and has a strong Appalachian heritage. During the 80's and 90's Cabbagetown became home to many artists and musicians. During the 90's Cabbagetown, along with the rest of in-town Atlanta, experienced a re-newed interest in in-town living and restoration of the older homes. Today Cabbagetown is home to a wonderful mix of families, singles, young couples, artists, corporate executives, independent businesses, and several churches - all within a six block area.

Who is invited?

Everyone! For Kids, the Cabbagagetown Soccerfest will have events before and after the game put on by our partners GA Soccer and the AYSA. For adults, Sweetwater Brewery will be providing all the beer you can drink!

Why are we doing it?

What to bring?

Kids should bring their cleats and their shin guards for the soccer events. Chairs and picnic blankets are also welcome for watching the game.

What not to bring?

Please do not bring any coolers. Food and beverages will be available from our vendors. Remember all the proceeds are going to a good cause so spend the money and eat and drink at the festival.

So what are these kids activates you speak of?

The organizers of the Cabbage Town Festival, Georgia Soccer and the Atlanta Youth Soccer Association have all partnered to support the US Men's National team in the first game of their 2010 World Cup campaign against England on Sat. June 12th and will present a series of skills clinics as a lead up to the viewing party at 2:30PM. The day's events will feature fun activities and games which will incorporate cool dribbling moves, juggling and plenty of touches on the ball. Get there early and sign up for an event at the AYSA tent.

Soccer Challenge:

Come out and show off your skills versus other kids in our soccer challenge. The challenge will be 5 minutes long and will be split by age group.

Atlanta Braves T-ball game

Yes this is a soccer event so why are the Braves coming? We are focused on soccer but this is also a kids event. The Braves want to show their support for Soccer and the Bid for the Cup too. They will be there until the start of the USA game at 2:30 with a t-ball game for the younger kids.

I am English, can I come and root for England?

Yes of course you can still come but remember we won the Revolutionary War and we plan on winning on Saturday as well.
